Italian outdoor design made for living outside
Outdoor living is an essential part of life in Mallorca. Terraces become dining rooms, shaded areas turn into living spaces and the transition between the house, garden and pool often defines how a property is actually used.
This is precisely where Atmosphera feels at home.
The Italian outdoor brand has been developing furniture for sophisticated exterior environments for more than 20 years. Its collections combine contemporary design, comfort and carefully selected materials with a distinctly Italian approach to outdoor living.
At KOYO Interior, we use Atmosphera for individual terraces as well as complete outdoor furnishing concepts for villas, fincas and apartments across Mallorca.
From modular lounges to outdoor dining
Atmosphera offers considerably more than a single visual style. Modular sofas allow generous lounge landscapes to be adapted to the proportions of a terrace, while armchairs, chaise longues, dining tables, chairs and occasional tables complete the different areas of an outdoor space.
Collections such as 9.zero demonstrate this flexibility particularly well. The modular seating system can be configured in numerous combinations according to available space and use.
For dining areas, Atmosphera combines architectural forms with materials such as aluminium, teak, ceramic, glass and stone surfaces. Current collections such as Materia and Capri also introduce glazed lava stone and coloured glass, creating outdoor tables with a much stronger material presence than conventional terrace furniture.
The result is outdoor furniture that can work equally well with restrained contemporary architecture or as a contrast to the natural stone and traditional materials of a Mallorcan finca. Atmosphera
Materials matter in the Mallorca climate
Beautiful outdoor furniture has to remain beautiful outside.
In Mallorca, that makes material selection particularly important. Strong UV exposure, high summer temperatures, humidity and – especially close to the coast – salt in the air place considerable demands on furniture and fabrics.
Atmosphera develops its outdoor collections specifically for exterior use. Depending on the collection, the manufacturer works with aluminium, teak, weather-resistant synthetic weaving, rope, outdoor fabrics, HPL, stoneware, ceramic, glass and other exterior materials.
Its woven polyethylene fibres, for example, are designed to withstand rain and salt water and are UV protected. Aluminium structures receive protective powder coatings, while outdoor upholstery uses fabrics developed for exterior conditions. Atmosphera
For us, however, choosing the right material still depends on the individual location. A protected terrace in Campos has different requirements from an exposed pool terrace or a property directly by the sea.
Creating an outdoor room rather than placing furniture on a terrace
A successful terrace is rarely created by choosing a sofa first and adding a table afterwards.
We start with the space.
Where does the sun move during the day? Where is shade needed? How do people move between the kitchen, dining area, pool and lounge? How many guests should the dining table accommodate? And which areas of the terrace are actually used in spring, midsummer or autumn?
Only then do furniture dimensions and configurations begin to make sense.
Atmosphera’s modular collections and broad selection of dining, lounge and occasional furniture give us considerable freedom here. Individual pieces can also be combined with outdoor lighting, rugs, parasols and furniture from other manufacturers rather than creating a terrace exclusively from one collection.
The objective is a coherent outdoor environment that belongs to the property – not a furniture showroom transferred outside.
